Job description

The department coordinator will manage daily operations in our school. Part of your work will be administrative and in support of staff such as the Community Coordinator, Middle Years Coordinator, DP Coordinator, Exam Officer, Careers Counselor and Principal. Another component of your work will involve interaction with students, parents and our wider community. 

In short, you will have a varied job, that more concretely includes tasks such as: 

  • Help with preparation and organisation of community events such as parent evenings, staff trainings and festivities;
  • Help with student and staff administration (sick leaves, leaves of absence, absentee registration);
  • Answering queries from students or parents by phone or email, or forwarding them appropriately;
  • Study hall organisation and supervision, including invigilation during student breaks; 
  • Oversight in classroom situations in case of teacher absence;
  • Occasional exam invigilation;
  • Organisation and distribution of books and study materials;
  • Preparing the School Year Planning, and keeping the agenda up-to-date accordingly;
  • Keeping the website up-to-date and possibly maintaining our social media channels;
  • Drafting and sending community updates and staff bulletins; 
  • Making all necessary arrangements for school trips and excursions;
  • Taking minutes during staff and MT meetings;
  • Other tasks in support of our teaching staff, coordinators and school leadership.

Candidate profile

You are

  • Preferably a native speaker of English, and at least fluent in both Dutch and English, with excellent written and spoken language skills and awareness of how to communicate in an international school setting;
  • Passionate about international education and working within our community;
  • Well able to navigate and appreciate an environment with many different cultural backgrounds, preferably from a background in an international school setting;
  • A highly organised, responsible, flexible professional who sets high standards; 
  • A social, calm, highly pro-active and helpful team player;
  • Eligible to work in the EU (EU citizen or in possession of a work permit).

Qualifications and experience

Your resume and cover letter will show that you have the following knowledge and experience:

  • You are in possession of tertiary qualifications of at least MBO level, preferably in a field either related to education or management assistance;
  • You have previous experience and proven success in a similar role;
  • You have proven experience and expertise within a secondary school setting, preferably in an international context;
  • You have educational or professional experience in a culturally diverse environment.

  • Fixed-term employment with permanent potential for 0,8-1,0 FTE (availability of at least 4, but preferably 5 days per week);
